The sheriff/jail contact handles current county custody and jail-side booking questions. The official page does not list a separate records-unit line or booking-photo fee. Ask which records custodian should receive a narrow request, and use the Greene County FOIA form when directed. Other questions belong with these sources:
- For a booking record or photo, if maintained and releasable, begin with the home page’s official records path and then contact the sheriff/jail.
- For the incident or arrest report, contact the police department, sheriff, Illinois State Police, or other agency that made the arrest.
- For someone who may have been arrested today, use Arrested Today; for selected multi-day reports, use Arrest Reports.
- For current custody, a possible release date, or a release notification, call the jail and check VINE Arrest Check. VINE is not a complete historical arrest archive.
- For a current warrant, call the Greene County Sheriff at 217-942-6901 and follow the agency’s instructions. No verified public Greene County live-warrant page was found.
- For visitation at Greene County Jail, consult the sheriff’s official page before traveling. Published visiting windows can be adjusted or cancelled.
- For a filed case or disposition, call the Greene County Circuit Clerk at 217-942-3421. Its public hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- For correction, sealing, or expungement questions, use the legal-resource section of the Greene County records guide and contact the originating agency or Circuit Clerk.
- For a sentenced state prisoner, use the Illinois Department of Corrections Individual in Custody Search.
- For federal or immigration detention, use the official BOP locator or ICE locator. These systems do not report Greene County jail custody.
